Let’s Work…

Hello everyone! So I decided upon the Capsule Wardrobe theme for my latest feature in a fairly last-minute, spur of the moment way. It says everything about the way I put my looks together generally. Always fairly impromptu, but always kind of works, well according to the compliments I seem to receive on some looks. Very kind by the way to those who do… as I really feel I’m still learning about what suits me. And especially as I get older and continue to evolve as a person and as my life and work changes. I’m fast realising my style has to adapt too. Easier said than done! Although I think there shouldn’t be ‘age appropriate’ clothes, I do feel that as we get older, well-cut and well-fitting items are the way forward. Again this is in accordance with my mantra – Quality Over Quantity!

I had a vague idea of what the theme would be of course. As someone who thinks about clothes and ‘looks’ a lot, in fact, I always seem to have a ticker tape of outfit ideas going through my head at any given time. Doesn’t everyone? 😉

For this shoot, I looked in the wardrobe and considered the things I bought recently and seem to WANT to wear at the moment. AND behold, there I saw black, cream, white, rust, khaki, red and burnt yellow hues and they all appeared to sit nicely alongside one another. And so begins part ONE of the feature…

Take One Cream Skirt…

Bought about three years ago online at ASOS… It’s excellent quality material and is quite flattering and sits below the knee. It’s nicely demure if you need to look pulled together and professional for work. It has a slightly raw frayed hem that keeps the look edgy and a bit younger in style but conversely makes the skirt look a bit more designer and expensive than it actually is. Sorry about the wrinkles in it, I don’t have a steamer and didn’t have time to iron it before the shoot! Anyway, having stopped exercising so much I wasn’t even sure this would still fit me. But it actually seems to fit a little better now with a bit of extra weight on me and that feels GOOD!

So this skirt is the base item for the many looks to come below! I’ve mixed and matched tops and jackets with it to create FOUR easy interchangeable looks that work week in week out when you’re pushed for time getting ready in the mornings.

1. The black linen jacket speaks for itself. It’s lovely to wear and the bow wrap is feminine. I’ll be wearing this forever!

2. The cream loose jacket, another Zara find was very barganous. It’s a great, thrown it on cover up and I like the length.

3. The black knitted polo top was from H&M and has frilled edges to the neck and sleeves – it looks designer.

4. Finally, the Sezane jumper, I’m in love with as it’s so unusual. When paired with the cream skirt, I like the fact it’s kind of a bit 1970s/80s mum. Looks great with jeans too.

As always, you can click on the shop LINKS under the photos to go straight to the item if it’s current. Otherwise I will take you to an item that is similar! Hope this helps…

Have a great weekend xxx
