Why the LBTD (Little Brown Tank Dress) might be your most versatile piece of Summer clothing yet…
Meet the LBTD. A lightweight, midi-length chocolate-hued little number. Guaranteed to blow your mind with its versatility, comfort and price tag. As you know I’m not one to espouse the pecuniary merits of cheap clothing for the sake of it. However in this case, the H&M dress featured comes from H&M Conscious – their sustainable edit of clothing (where there’s a commitment to using recycled and organic materials or Tencel/Lyocell – a material I’ve talked about before and which has less of an ecological footprint compared to the production of other materials). In short, I don’t feel so bad buying it and promoting it on my blog. That’s my conscience sorted then – onto the dress!
As you can see from the pics below, I’ve styled it two ways. One for a holiday or a sunny city break and the other for work or a more formal occasion.
I’ve added a Panama hat here, as well as a ombre effect scarf (Zara) that is tonally matched to the rich brown fabric of the dress but adds a pop of hot tropical colour to the dress. Add khaki espadrilles (similar here) and a lovely little circular straw bag from Harfi and you have an easy, carefree outfit that will see you through the streets of Barcelona of an evening or the boardwalks of Santa Monica at lunch – wherever you choose to roam.
Hot in the City
For those of us who have to work and furthermore in an office, keeping cool while looking smart is an art form that can be hard to master at first. How do you keep the whole look appropriate and relatively covered up without sweltering? Answer: it takes a little foresight and a good blazer. This dress is a great mid length which means the only flesh on show is the décolletage and arms. A dove grey linen jacket over the top and leopard print heeled courts add structure to the look of the dress. In fact this dress is a great base for just about anything – add a leather jacket over the top or a loose khaki safari jacket and the whole look is diversified again. Even a lightweight white cotton shirt with the hem tied in a knot at your waist is another look. The possibilities are endless. The look in the pics below could even work for a formal garden party when it’s really hot and you don’t want to go down the floral dress route.
Thanks for reading guys and I hope you’ve found this useful. Enjoy the sun when it comes! Sash xx
